The Master Thesis comprises a student’s individually selected topical project that completes their studies at the Faculty and Department. It reflects the competence in addressing and successfully proposing solutions for complex tasks in architecture and urban design. The selection of topics is oriented on the Department’s research interests. It can encompass processes of social change and related new typological challenges in the context of city and landscape. The aim is to implement a high standard in theoretical terms within an exemplary project, in architectural form or within a text-based project. By employing a sound scientific basis new solutions can be proposed that are transferable to other situations and contexts and in relation to current debates in architecture and urban design. The thesis includes a public presentation and defense that is intended to demonstrate the ability of students to address complex questions in architecture and urban design within a limited amount of time.
